If you use a Microsoft mouse with your laptop, it's very beneficial to be able to utilize the button features of the Microsoft Intellipoint software.
However, installing the Intellipoint software will often disable or disrupt the features provided by the touchpad driver and sometimes become an either or choice.
The trick is to use the following procedure:
Look under Control Panel | Mouse and you should see tabs for both the Microsoft mouse and the touchpad.
This should work for Alps, Synaptic, HP, Toshiba, Compaq and Dell Touchpad drivers.
